Covid 19 Information-FAQ

How many people can the Church accommodate safely?
With social distancing, there is only seating for a maximum of around 25.
There is access only to the foyer, toilets and the main church sanctuary.

What would happen if someone who attends gets the symptoms of the Covid virus?
Your name and phone number will be taken on entry to be used in the unlikely event of the need for NHS Scotland to use the Test and Protect programme. All personal data collected will be destroyed within 4 weeks.

How can we safely keep our distance in the church?
On entry there is tape on the floors indicating a 2 metre distance.
Seats have been placed following measurement to ensure 2 metres distancing.
At the beginning of the service, you will be shown to your seat – filling from the front first.

At the end of the service, people sitting at the back will leave first.
Because of social distancing requirements, at the end of the service, we would ask you to move outside the building promptly. Please don’t spend time chatting in the foyer.

What hygiene measures are in place?
The entry door will be open to prevent the need to touch door handles. To maximise natural draft, doors will be kept open, weather permitting.
Toilet door handles will be cleaned after each use.
Hand sanitising stations are available on entry and also outside the toilets
Although safety measures are in place for the toilets, if possible visit your toilet at home before coming to the service.

Do I need to wear a face covering?
As of the 7th August face masks ARE now mandetory in the church building. Disposable masks will be made available to visitors who need them.

What about the Breaking of Bread?
After discussion it was decided that the breaking of bread will be served to each person present by a server wearing a face covering. The bread will be cut into cubes prior to the service. The wine will be served in individual disposable cups, as is our usual practice.

Can we sing during the service?
At this stage we are not permitted to sing as a congregation, but alternatives are planned.

Will there be an offering?
There will be an offering plate on the baptistery which you can use either on entry or at the end of the service if you so wish.

Are there going to be Church Bibles available?
BYOB  - Church Bibles will not be available to minimise the chance of infection so if you wish to follow the reading yourself, please bring your own Bible.

If you have any symptoms, please do not attend and seek a test.

The arrangements will be reviewed every three weeks. Any changes announced by the Scottish Government will be implemented as soon as it is practical to do so.
